Garrison Creek Riders was founded in 1972 by folks who wanted to provide a safe
place for equine riders of all ages, with emphasis on our youth. Forty Four years
later we are still going strong. Faces have changed, but not our dedication to the
We are a non-profit 501C organization with a board of directors (7) consisting
of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, four (4) members at large and a Secretary.
We have won many prestigious awards from the community and the surrounding areas
to which we are especially proud. We have won “Most Improved Rodeo” several times.
In 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and again in 2015,we were the benefactors
of the Cowboys Regional Rodeo Association (CRRA) rodeo of the Year award. We compete
against six hundred (600) rodeos in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas.
We are well known in many of the periodicals that ropers, barrel racers, team penners
and team sorters read. We are members of the CRRA, ARA, and ACRA Rodeo Associations.
Our arena is always busy with our ten Shodeos per year, usually held on Saturdays,
and Barrels every Monday. Along with this we have a Junior Rodeo. We also rent the
arena and have had tractor pulls, motorcycle rallies, 4-H Horse shows, Dandies precision
drill team, and a flea market.
We strive to present a comprehensive program for our youth. In 2007 we were
able to start our very first college scholarship award, which will be an annual program
that we hope continues for many years to come. The scholarship program is open to
all youth with emphasis on equine riders. College is so very important and we wanted
to be able to help deserving youth of the area.
We couldn’t accomplish all of this without our superb list of sponsors, volunteers,
members, and helpers. All of our monies generated throughout the year are given back
to the contestants in the form of prizes, new and improved facilities, a yearly schedule,
and many hours of volunteered hard work.
Your generous donations will be hard at work. The arena signs and additional
advertising on the arena grounds are seen every time there is an event. We also receive
newspaper coverage through a bi-weekly article written by the club.
You may visit us anytime to see the progress we make each and every year. Our
facilities are located on Highway 64 between Muldrow and Roland, Oklahoma and are
always open to our friends.
